Three Corporate United Members
Named to Kiplinger’s Green List
The October 2007 issue of Kiplinger’s Personal Finance includes an article titled “25 Stocks to Invest in a
Cleaner World,” and three Corporate United members
earned spots on this prestigious list of green companies.
Kiplinger praises Philadelphia-based Rohm & Haas
for earning 70% of its revenues from products like
water-based paints, formaldehyde-free insulation and
lead-free electronics – all very environmentally friendly.
Philips Electronics is the world leader in manufacturing
incandescent light bulbs, and the company is actively
pursuing becoming the leader in energy-efficient
lighting. The Babcock & Wilcox division of
McDermott International is listed as having cuttingedge
technology that prevents harmful coal emissions
from being released into the atmosphere.
Congratulations to Rohm & Haas, Philips Electronics, and Babcock & Wilcox on being recognized for their environmental consciousness and action. Corporate United is proud to have these three green thought leaders as part of our membership.
Ariba to Acquire Procuri
Ariba announced on September 20 its decision to acquire Procuri Inc. for $93 million during the first
quarter of Ariba’s fiscal year 2008, ending December 31,
2007. Both companies’ board of directors have signed
the definitive agreement, which includes Ariba paying
off roughly $8 million of Procuri’s debt.
The acquisition further solidifies Ariba’s top position in the spend management solutions market. Procuri’s
on-demand expertise will help to substantiate Ariba’s
relatively new presence in the SaaS space and, with a
customer base of over three-hundred, will further open
the door for Ariba to the mid-market.
Ariba’s release to the Business Wire quotes Procuri president and CEO, Mark Morel, as saying, “The
combination of Procuri and Ariba creates the clear
leader in the global market for on-demand spend
management solutions. In uniting the industry’s
best-in-class technologies and people, the combined
company will deliver a world-class, end-to-end
spend management platform and services that enable
companies to control spend, mitigate risks, and improve
performance across their global supply chains.”
