Volt Workforce Solutions is one of the world’s largest and most respected recruitment organizations. A business unit of Volt Information Sciences, Inc., a FORTUNE 1000, publicly-traded (NYSE: VOL) international corporation, Volt provides talent in all skill categories with a strategic focus on contingent/temporary placement, professional search, managed services programs, vendor management systems (VMS), recruitment process outsourcing (RPO), and payroll services. Through each of these activities, Volt delivers on its mission: "to provide exceptional value to our clients, employees and shareholders."

With 59+ years of industry expertise, Volt has always maintained a keen focus on combining outstanding talent, innovative technology and disciplined business processes to help clients achieve their potential. In 2002, Volt adopted Six Sigma’s discipline and metrics-based processes, becoming the first temporary recruitment company to do so. Business improvement excellence is deployed throughout the organization via training activities and projects in all functional areas, with 21 percent of the in-house workforce trained in Six Sigma.

Today, Volt is recognized by FORTUNE as one of the World’s Most Admired Companies in Temporary Help and is a top-tier leader in IT staffing, engineering staffing and accounting & finance staffing. Serving locations in North America, South America, Europe and Asia, Volt makes hundreds of thousands of placements annually.

As a socially responsible organization with a people-centric mission, Volt wants to ensure its growth and success are measured by the positive steps it takes within its local communities. That’s why, in 2009, Volt launched the Volt Military Heroes Program.

Each year, more than 200,000 men and women leave the U.S. military and re-enter the job market. These heroes have served our country with distinction. Veterans contribute to America’s global competitiveness and help strengthen the economic base of their local communities. In its role as a leading recruitment organization, Volt has a long-standing commitment and tradition of providing employment to ex-military personnel. With servicemen and women currently returning from Iraq, Afghanistan and other U.S. military operations, Volt believes it is the duty of corporate America to seek out these highly skilled individuals and provide them with the job opportunities they have earned and need, and it is therefore a key goal of Volt.

The Volt Military Heroes Program is designed to ease the transition to civilian life for military personnel, while simultaneously providing a practical service to clients, who need well-trained, qualified candidates for jobs that require specific skills and/or government security clearances. The program has a vision of becoming the recognized recruiting and employment source for transitioning veterans, including those with combat-related injuries. Volt’s objectives for the program are simple:

  • Recognize specific skill sets, training, leadership and other positive attributes instilled in America’s military service members

  • Collaborate with clients to provide veterans with the best employment opportunities that Corporate America can provide

Consistent with Volt’s Six Sigma framework, this program is a top-down initiative and championed at the highest levels of the organization by Steven Shaw, President and CEO of Volt Information Sciences, and Jerome Shaw, a World War II veteran and currently Executive Vice President and Co-founder of Volt. The Volt Military Heroes Program culminates approximately two years of outreach to members of Congress, all branches of the military, many government agencies, as well as veteran communities to fully educate everyone on the ways in which Volt can provide the best employment support. The program timeframe is open-ended and will be an ongoing service to candidates and clients.

The Volt Military Heroes Program has been rolled out at all Volt’s branch locations across the U.S. and will target the approximately 200,000 veterans who exit the military each year. Based upon Volt’s recruiting strengths, the program seeks to fill mission-critical positions in: information technology, engineering, accounting & finance, customer care, light industrial, project management, organizational management and logistics.

To provide veteran job seekers with resume assistance, interview tips, job alerts, as well as encourage corporate America to support these heroes with employment opportunities, Volt has launched a customized website, www.voltmilitary.com.
