Business economists expect the economy to
continue to improve as we move into the
second half of 2010, and data from the
Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and Bureau
of Economic Analysis (BEA) support this.
Activity in the manufacturing sector has
increased and orders to U.S. factories are
rising. Temporary help services are leading
the way in job growth in the professional
and business services sector, adding 330,000
jobs since September. In fact, since
September, U.S. staffing firms have created
more new jobs than any other industry.1
As Corporate United members
consider what types of workers to add to
their headcount in the improving
environment, Volt Workforce Solutions can
help.
A recruitment leader, Volt
offers CU members skilled contingent talent
along with several distinct advantages:
-
Acquire talent faster
– Through customized recruiting
programs, Volt can provide talent to
your organization in an expedited time
frame, allowing you to respond quickly
to improved business conditions.
-
Source hard-to-find skill sets
– Volt ranks as the #2 largest provider
of IT and Engineering staffing and the
#6 largest in Accounting & Finance
staffing2, with proven expertise in
providing high performers in the most
in-demand categories.
-
Achieve workforce
flexibility
– In an uncertain economy, CU members
need adaptable workforce options rather
than investing in headcount prematurely.
For six decades, Volt has delivered
flexible solutions attuned to achieve
your contingent workforce management and
spend goals.
-
Access best practices
– As a CU partner, Volt’s commitment to
quality through Six Sigma processes and
their consultative approach to
understanding your business structure
and culture enable them to help you
accomplish your business objectives.

As an example of the
successes achieved between Corporate United
members and Volt, following are two case
studies about real-life challenges in
acquiring engineering and IT talent and the
results provided by Volt.
CASE STUDY 1
When internal recruiting methods failed to
land quality IT specialists, this client
found the talent they needed with Volt.
The Challenge
This global leader in application networking
delivery had an ongoing need for network
support engineers. However, the client’s
recruiters had exhausted their resources,
extending the duration of successive
candidate searches and impacting
productivity. Frustrated by the results of
their traditional recruiting methods, the
client called on Volt Workforce Solutions.
The Results
Volt’s Professional Search recruiters
partnered with the client’s hiring team to
identify key aspects of each open position
and the skill sets common to top employees
who served in this role, and to collaborate
on an effective sourcing process. Because
traditional job searches in the client’s
region failed to find qualified talent, Volt
focused on passive candidates, specialists
who were currently employed but interested
in new challenges. By exploring
recommendations from current Volt employees
and creative online sourcing strategies,
Volt delivered the results the client had
hoped for:
-
Filled five engineer
positions in the first year, with an
average hire time of less than four
weeks
-
Careful screening and
clear candidate communication drove 100
percent
retention rate
-
Quality of service led
to broader recruiting partnership for
higher-level positions
CASE STUDY 2
When this company faced a limited pool of
qualified engineering candidates, Volt’s
creative approach produced multiple
candidates.
The Challenge
This client, a national supplier of defense
communications and defense electronics, was
experiencing a shortage of aerospace
engineering talent and had multiple
requisitions to fill in a short period of
time. The company decided it needed outside
help and hired Volt Workforce Solutions.
The Results
Volt immediately recognized that a creative
approach was needed. Volt convinced the
client that automotive engineers had many of
the skill sets necessary for the client’s
aerospace engineer positions. The client
agreed to consider automotive engineers and
agreed to participate in a Volt facilitated
hiring event. Fourteen of the client’s
hiring managers joined a twelve member Volt
team for the two day event. Volt’s creative
plan and hiring event were both a success:
-
Volt and the client
participated in over 100 interviews
during the two day event
-
Out of the 100
interviews, the client offered positions
to 48 candidates
-
Out of the 48 offers,
the client hired 40 engineers, ten more
than the client’s goal
-
Impressed with Volt’s
response, the client has committed to
hiring Volt for future needs
